about accidentally poisoning yourself and your friends? Never fear, Curious in Nature is here!
Emma from Curious in Nature is a wild food expert, qualified countryside ranger and member of the Association of Foragers, Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland and British Mycological Society. At our Forage and Flavour event Emma will take you on a wild food adventure, providing sound, safe and
deliciously entertaining advice to help you develop your foraging skills to confidently distinguish the delicious from the deadly.
Finlaystone Forage and Flavour events begin with a foray into our beautiful woodlands to explore and identify wild mushrooms, filling our basket with tasty treasures as we go. Returning later to the cosy comfort of the Old Laundry to cook, sample and rate the finest of our finds.
Which mushroom will be?crowned the Finlaystone Champion of Champignons? You decide!
Tasting foraged food engages all of your senses, offering a wonderfully gluttonous way to improve your wild food learning. Please remember that your comfort and wellbeing is our top priority and tasting is always optional.
This event will run from 11:00am for 3-4 hours depending on conditions.
Finlaystone Forage and Flavour: Wild Mushrooms for Beginners With Wild Food Tasting includes:
- Guidance to develop your fungi ID skills
- Advice to spark your creativity and confidence to use wild ingredients for?delicious recipes and traditional remedies at home.
- Tales from folklore to help to secure plants and mushrooms firmly in your?imagination.
- Guidance on books, kit and other resources to develop your foraging skills.
- A cooking demonstration using the wild produce we have found.
- A tasting session, to sample wild foods and rate of the flavour, texture and?appearance of our most delicious finds.
Accessibility
At all Curious in Nature events, we walk or wheel at a gentle pace – like curious snails, stopping to notice and examine the fungi we find. If you have mobility or access concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact Emma directly at emma@curious-in-nature.com, so she can ensure your needs are met.
Tickets
Tickets £60 per person and £55 with an early bird discount subject to availability. Members of Finlaystone Country Estate receive an additional 10% discount. Members should get in touch for their discount code. The event is suitable for persons aged 16 and over. Sampling of wild food is optional.
