collection of over 700 dolls displayed in our museum The Dolly Mixture.
Clare Spurgin (mother of Jane MacMillan) started this collection in
1903. She was given a china doll, from which her lifelong interest
in them grew. |
(Entry to the dolly mixture is by small admission charge.)

As an adult,
she studied anthropology and
travelled extensively, collecting dolls from all
over the world as she went along. Jane, too, has added to the collection.
